Lease Contracts

Renting a home or an apartment is generally a straightforward process and many tenants sign a lease contract or a lease agreement without having an attorney review it first. While this typically doesn’t pose any problems, in some cases, a poorly worded lease or a lease with a lot of “fine print” is not in the best interests of the tenants who are renting.

Before you sign a lease contract, you need to be familiar with:

  • What the lease says
  • What it requires you do during your time at the home or the apartment
  • What the lease forbids (as far as pets, etc. go)
  • How the lease specifies payment and late payments
  • How the lease specifies deposits and the return of deposit when the contract has ended

It is in your best interest to have an attorney at least review your lease contract and assist you in determining if the lease is in your best interests or not. If you are entering into a commercial lease contract, it is even more essential that you contact an attorney to assist you in the contract signing process.

At Grogan & Souto, P.C., we have the experience and skills necessary to assist you with any real estate matter, including both residential and commercial lease contracts.
